Here is a picture of my honey braving the cold to visit me…
It is not really as cold as it looks. We are on the Mass Ave Bridge (the MIT bridge) over the frozen Charles River, which was covered in snow although the rest of Boston was not. If Bob tells you it was -11 degrees […]

One of today’s lectures with Dr. Ben Siegel and a current 3rd year medical student Ricardo, gave students a glimpse at the “culture of medical school.” What rituals, traditions, techniques help to transform students into doctors? We watched clips from a Nova PBS series called Survivor, MD. Dr. Siegel would pause the video at a particularly […]

Boston is known as a city of neighborhoods: Back Bay, Beacon Hill, The South End, Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, Fenway, South Boston, The North End, Allston, Brighton, Mattapan, Roslindale. We played a silly “getting to know you” game this morning. The person in the center of the circle shouts, “The wind blows for me and anyone who _________” and if the descprition fits an individual, he or she is “blown” across the circle to a new spot. Whoever does not get to a new […]

Phew…I am exhausted. I have worked for 10 days straight, often 10-12 hour days in preparation for this weekend’s student arrivals. There was an 84 page Orientation to put together, Syllabi for 4 courses, course packs full of readings for the semester, a new passport to secure (pending), and 3 disparate faculty personalities to get to know. […]

Dear Students,
I am sitting in a small café in Boston trying to craft an opening letter to you, and I simply cannot decide what to say first! So many thoughts run […]
